Delete your PIN account

Last updated: 28 May 2026

PIN is built by Harshit Singh. You own your account and can delete it at any time. This page explains how to request deletion and exactly what we erase — and what we have to keep for legal or operational reasons.

Delete from inside the app (fastest)

  1. Open PIN on iOS or Android.
  2. Tap the Account tab (bottom right).
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm twice. Your account and saved data are deleted from our live systems within seconds.

The destructive button is intentionally double-confirmed so you don't hit it by accident.

Delete by email (alternative)

If you can't open the app — for example, you uninstalled it, lost the device, or can't sign in — email harshit@catchandpin.app from the address tied to your PIN account with the subject line Delete my PIN account. We'll verify it's you, then process the deletion manually within 7 days and send you a confirmation when it's done.

What gets deleted

  • Your account record (email, name, Clerk identity).
  • Every pin you've saved — URLs, titles, notes, extracted article text.
  • Every image you've saved or shared in (Vercel Blob originals are removed too).
  • Every collection you've created, including any covers.
  • Any public-share links you'd generated stop resolving and return 404 immediately.
  • Your authentication identity at Clerk (the third-party auth provider PIN uses) is also deleted.

What we keep, and for how long

  • Anonymous error and crash logs that don't identify you personally. These live in Sentry for up to 90 days and are then auto-deleted by Sentry's retention policy.
  • Anonymous product analytics (e.g. counts of how many people opened a screen) in PostHog. Hashed user IDs and standard PostHog retention apply (up to 7 years on the free tier, but no personal data is attached after your account is deleted).
  • Encrypted database backups of our Postgres on Neon roll on a 7-day window. Your data is purged from these snapshots within 7 days of deletion.
  • Records we're legally required to keep (transaction logs, fraud-prevention records) are retained only as long as the law requires, then deleted.

Re-creating an account later

You're welcome to create a new PIN account with the same email at any point after deletion. The new account is fresh — we do not restore any pins or collections from the deleted one.

Deleting some of your data (without deleting the account)

You don't have to nuke your whole account to clean things up. PIN gives you granular control inside the app:

  • Delete a single pin — swipe left on it in the feed (with undo), or open the pin and tap the ⋯ menu → Delete.
  • Delete a collection — open the collection, tap ⋯ → Delete collection. The pins inside the collection stay in your library; only the grouping is removed.
  • Remove a pin from a collection (without deleting the pin) — open the collection and swipe left on the pin row.
  • Clear a pin's note — open the pin, tap the note text, delete it, tap outside to save.
  • Stop sharing a public collection — open the collection, tap ⋯ → Stop sharing link. The public URL stops resolving immediately.

These are real deletes — the data is removed from our database and from any storage (e.g. images in Vercel Blob) on the same timescales described above. If you'd rather have us bulk-delete data on your behalf, email harshit@catchandpin.app from the account's email address and we'll handle it within 7 days.
